Raven Rock

The Raven Rock trail is 1.25 miles long, and includes the Raven Rock Overlook, pictured here. The view is spectacular, looking 1,100 feet down to the Cheat River, and miles across West Virginia and into Maryland on a clear day. The turkey vultures can usually be seen circling in the canyon belown you, and we've seen hawks riding the currents not far from the rocks. It's a bit nerve-racking for a mother, though, since there aren't any fences obscuring the view here, and I can just see one of my kids falling off. I usually have a very firm hold on their clothing at this point.

The trail goes downhill from the Forest Road through the woods, then goes up to the lookout point. It's an easy walk for a great view.
